INTERVIEW WITH ELEONORA

What were your reasons for working as a volunteer?

I have always thought that dedicating free time to helping others is something that makes you feel good about yourself, and I also considered it interesting to work as a volunteer in the offices of the foundation instead of on the ground. This is mainly because it is the place where the resources are managed and the actions that are carried out in the field are planned, allowing us to give support to those who need it most.

Why did you choose the IBO foundation to do your volunteer work with?

With someone’s support, I was able to get in touch with the foundation, and I thought that it would be easier to understand the workings of a relitively small entity like the IBO Foundation. In fact, working at the headquarters in Barcelona has allowed me to understand the different departments directly and the connection between the Barcelona office and the ground team in Ibo.

What action have you undertaken as a volunteer with the IBO Foundation?

Together with the Foundation’s communication manager, I have been able to work on the thinking behind, and development, of a project related to food issues. I hope that it can contribute to the Nutrition Support Center (CANI) that the Foundation manages on the island of Ibo

What stands out for you the most about this experience with the IBO Foundation

Thanks to this challenge I learned how to create a humanitarian project from scratch and what the necessary requirements are to create a network of external collaborators.

What improvements could you bring to the Foundation as a volunteer?

I realized that I need to expand my specific training so that I can make changes in the places where I work. I am very motivated to start other studies that will allow me to work in the humanitarian field and maybe one day I will have the chance to work for the greater success of the Foundation.

Would you like to stay connected to the IBO Foundation when you have finished your volunteer work?

Absolutely! My experience in Fundación IBO has been very interesting and I am excited to see the results of the campaign I participated in.
